Morse Code Translator

Free Morse code translator. Type text to encode it to dots and dashes, or paste Morse to decode it back to plain text — both directions, instantly.

This Morse code translator converts in both directions. Type a word or sentence into the left box and the right box shows it in International Morse — dots and dashes, with letters separated by spaces and words separated by a slash. Paste Morse into the right box and the left box decodes it straight back into readable text.

The full A–Z and 0–9 alphabet is supported. Encoding is case-insensitive, and anything the code can't represent is skipped rather than mangling the rest of your message. Decoding splits letters on spaces and words on the slash separator. It all runs locally in your browser, with copy buttons on each side so you can grab whichever output you need.

Frequently asked questions

How are letters and words separated in Morse?

Individual letters are separated by a single space, and words are separated by a slash surrounded by spaces ( / ).

Is the translator case-sensitive?

No. Text is treated case-insensitively because Morse code has no distinction between uppercase and lowercase letters.

Which characters are supported?

The full International Morse set for letters A–Z, digits 0–9, and the space between words. Unsupported characters are skipped.

What happens to unknown Morse symbols?

Any group that doesn't match a known Morse letter is ignored during decoding, so a single typo won't break the whole message.
